throttle position sensor (TPS) is a sensor used to monitor the position of the throttle in an internal combustion engine. The sensor is usually located on the butterfly spindle so that it can directly monitor the position of the butterfly throttle valve.
The sensor is usually a potentiometer and therefore provides a variable resistance dependent upon the position of the butterfly valve (and hence throttle position).
kiranya mcm utk optimumkan penggunaan minyak...increase power..mcm tu la agaknya.

Bagi motosikal (atau kenderaan lain jugak laa) yg menggunakan karburetor tapi masih ada TPS, fungsinya adalah utk melepaskan bahan api dengan lebih banyak apabila trotel dibuka secara tiba2 semasa pusingan enjin masih perlahan.
Bagi karburetor mcm ni, tanpa TPS, jika kita tiba2 tekan minyak masa perlahan, enjin mungkin akan mati kerana tak cukup petrol.
Fungsi lain mungkin juga untuk menukar timing ignition untuk mengurangkan knocking..
Utk Efi lain cerita haaa..

Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki tak buat karburetor. Mereka dpt supply dari pembuat karburetor/EFi.
Kalau kita tengok pada sesebuah moto bukan dibuat oleh pengeluar.
Karburetor yg buat kat Jepun Keihin, Mikuni, Hitachi. Dari europe pulak Del Ortho, Webber, dsb. Pembuat karburetor ini juga mengeluarkan EFi system utk model2 baru.
Fungsi semuanya hampir2 sama. Karekter pun sama. Mungkin design yg banyak berbeza untuk mengikut spec pembuat kenderaan.
Kalau kita tengok pada sesebuah moto bukan dibuat oleh pengeluar.

Tang bro Pistole cakap tu mmg betul. Tapi mcm Yamaha LC dlm katalog kata TPS tu tolong signal utk supply petrol tambahan semasa pecutan mengejut..

lepas di test2, nampak nya, masalah semput pada RPM 4k masih berterusan...jadi...lepas ni nak cuba tukar ignition coil dgn kawan...err ada sesapa yg pakai cbr400 lagi?
p/s - abg art, kalo ignition coil dah lama @ kaput, apa efek dia ek? pada firing jadi apa?

- doubt that it would be an ignition coil problem.
- probably a failure of the ignition advance
and/or jetting/dirt in the carb.
- you'll just have to test each and every item
one by one (if you got manual and specs).
- is it "spot-on" at 4K rpms , all the time ?

i can say that carburetor is very2 OK because of the good idling it have. plus i had synchronized/balanced it. the pickup also very good and smooth until 4k RPM. after 4k RPM (regards any gear) it became "semput2". this thing happen after my accident last year.
anyway, thanks 4 ur advice tuan pistole. any comment would be appreciated.

- the idle jet is separate from the mid/high jets.
- so the thing may idle fine , but would have a flat spot
as the jets transition from idle to mid to high.
- were the carbs taken apart and cleaned one by one ?
esp their float-bowls ?

Betul tu, Zul! carburetor ada banyak jet, kadang2 idle tak baik tapi kita rev ok. Kadang2 idle ok, rev tak ok. Plus,> CBR ko ada 4 karburetor tau. Jangan tukar coil dulu sbb aku suspek ko punya karburetor ada problem kat mid/ hi speed jet.

yes! nothing wrong with it...tapi takpa, i re-check lah! tuan pistole, actually what is the indication for the malfunction coils? i dont have any experience...my kapcai tak pernah tukar coil pun.

masalahnya, pomen otai sbk pun dah tune.....dia tak pakai manometer atau gauge meter utk tune. main pulas2 pastu dengar bunyik...kire dah lama la dia main sbk ni....dia yg kata carb ok lagi....so, aku assume ok la carb tu...sbb tu aku troubleshoot dari benda selain carb dulu..kalo dia tipu, aku tipu gak le.
