Lucky the crash occur now. If it happen more than 10 years ago he may not survive it because of the safety standard then.
The chasis of the F1 car are very strong that it can withstand & absorb very strong impact.
Anyone remember Robert Kubica who crash his BMW F1 car into the barrier wall at 240kmh in Canada last year. We can actually see the driver's shoe after the front nose of the car got completely smash yet he survive it with just a sprain ankle.
